Welcome Back to The Hip Hop Push Blog. Today, I’m covering a music video/ documentary by Wiccid Lo & Hyphdaddy. Hyph also goes by the name “ The Blak Baboon.” He is an artist on Wiccid’s Lo’s “2Tempted ENT” record label.  It appears him and Wiccid Lo go way back.

I am a fan of his delivery: Hyph has different styles, & subject matter ranges from music for the hood to love and breakup songs.

Here are some of my favorite Hyphdaddy tracks:

One of the songs that resonated with me was “My Addiction.” I believe you should watch.

I really liked the beat, the blatant reality of the hook, & the admissions within the verses. (The Song Starts At 18.06, Click On The Still To Go To The Video.)

As I was saying in my last post, I grew up in a more rural part of Long Island, New York. There was a point in history, 2017, where we suffered more overdose deaths as a county than The Bronx. I have many friends, and even some who looked at me less favorably, who have passed away. Even to this day, it seems like every other day on Facebook, we are collectively lamenting the loss of yet another one of our loved ones. Truly, it was not like this prior to the creation & distribution of oxycodone, and some days, I truly wonder how we cope.

Personally, art has been an outlet for me. Thankfully, I am not alone in this sentiment.

I appreciate the content that Wiccid Lo & Hyphdaddy have created on addiction & recovery. Addiction is a topic that garners much shame in American society. There has been as much of an effort to sweep the topic under the rug as there has been efforts for honest discussions.

I salute each & every person with a history of addiction that continues forward with recovery, and send well wishes to each & every person struggling with the challenges of staying clean.

I will be looking forward to more art with a message, especially from Wiccid Lo & Hyphdaddy.

By now, have you watched, “My Addiction?” Are there pieces of the video that resonated with you? How has addiction touched your life? Drop a comment on Instagram: @thehiphoppush and let us know, if you would like.

Thanks to each & every one of you for reading the The Hip Hop Push LLC’s blog, much more to come.
